JEHOVAH – The Existing One Who is, Who was, Who will
always be.
Our English word LORD in the Old Testament histories is the word we use to translate
the name JEHOVAH.
Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the
Israelites: ‘I AM
has sent me to you.’ ”
God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord (Jehovah),
the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of
Jacob—has sent me to you.’
“This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from
generation to generation.
“Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The Lord (Jehovah),
the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—appeared to me and
said: I have watched over you and have
seen what has been done to you in Egypt. And I have promised to bring you up
out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites,
Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’
Ex. 3:13-17
God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD (Jehovah). I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and
to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully
known to them. I also established my covenant with them to give them the land
of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners. Moreover, I have heard the
groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have
remembered my covenant.
“Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out
from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to
them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of
judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you
will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from
under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with
uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you
as a possession. I am the LORD.’ ”
It is as “I Am THAT I AM” that
God (Elohim) reveals Himself to His chosen people in bondage as their personal
covenant keeping REDEEMER.
The LORD Jesus Christ
is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they
follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch
them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can
snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the
Father are one.” Jesus of Nazareth
But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant,…

Therefore, since we are
receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so
worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,….
So, on this LORD’S Day,
let us rejoice and look forward to the Day we will stand on Mt. Zion in the
presence of the LORD together.
We are confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until
the day of Christ Jesus.
So, let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore,
as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who
belong to the family of believers.
