NO HELL-NO GOSPEL

If there is no Hell, no Lake of Fire in which to punish the ungodly and the wicked, then Jesus of Nazareth suffered crucifixion needlessly. If there is no Day of wrath towards which God is storing up His wrath for the Day of Judgment, then there is no need for the Good News that Christ died for our sins. In fact, if there are no Eternal Judgments then there are probably no Eternal Rewards.  Without Heaven and Hell there is no true rendering of Justice beyond this life.  Just imagine no Heaven above us, no Hell below us…… all such vain imaginings are futile at best and eternally damning at worst.

The Cross of Christ was the only spot on earth where the wrath of God spent itself full force on His Son as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. It was a place of bloody sacrifice necessitated by the eternal nature of our sins and guilt.  “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other only at the Cross of Christ.

Any preaching of eternal salvation in and through Jesus Christ that avoids the Biblical declarations concerning Heaven and Hell is no true Gospel.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. HELL YES!

1) Affirmative, positive, only in a more certain and stressing manner.

2) A decent song by Beck on his album Guero

Person 1: Do you want fries with that?
Person 2: Yes.
Person 1: Are you sure?
Person 2: Hell yes!

(Urbandictionary.com)

1. Inf. a severe scolding.   The boss just gave me hell about it. I'm really going to give Tom hell when he gets home.

2. Inf. trouble; pain.   My arthritis is giving me hell in this weather. This problem is giving us hell at the office.

(thefreedictionary.com/hell)

It is apparent that the concept of Hell is maintained in our culture daily. The continued and constant use of the word “hell” in our private and public discourse is in itself a kind of validation of Hell’s existence. If  indeed Hell does not exist, then why is it that we continue to use the word “hell” to give gravity to our words?  And besides, it seems to me that HELL, by anybody’s definition, is the ultimate expression of Political Incorrectness! Who does God think that He is, anyway!

"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear HIM who is able to destroy both soul and body in HELL.” Jesus of Nazareth

THE COSMIC WWF*

Do you believe that being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ forever as one of God’s glorious children living in His presence in the New Heaven and the New Earth in the next life is worth the struggle of fighting the Good Fight of Faith in this life?

And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? I face death every day—yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord. If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised,

“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” 1 Cor. 15

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Eph. 6

SIFTED LIKE WHEAT

WHAT IS, THE “GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH”???  6

THE STRUGGLE

“Simon, Simon, SATAN HAS ASKED TO SIFT ALL OF YOU AS WHEAT. But I have prayed for you, Simon, THAT YOUR FAITH MAY NOT FAIL. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22

“Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and HE WILL SURELY CURSE YOU TO YOUR FACE.” Job 2

WE MUST PAY THE MOST CAREFUL ATTENTION, therefore, to what we have heard, SO THAT WE DO NOT DRIFT AWAY. For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE IF WE IGNORE SO GREAT A SALVATION?  Heb. 2

But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, IF INDEED WE HOLD FIRMLY TO OUR CONFIDENCE AND THE HOPE IN WHICH WE GLORY. See to it, brothers and sisters, THAT NONE OF YOU HAS A SINFUL, UNBELIEVING HEART THAT TURNS AWAY FROM THE LIVING GOD. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” SO THAT NONE OF YOU MAY BE HARDENED BY SIN’S DECEITFULNESS. We have come to share in Christ, IF INDEED WE HOLD OUR ORIGINAL CONVICTION FIRMLY TO THE VERY END. As has just been said:

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”

Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? SO WE SEE THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ENTER, BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF. Heb. 3

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THOSE who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and WHO HAVE FALLEN AWAY, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. IN THE END IT WILL BE BURNED. Heb. 6

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and WITH THE FULL ASSURANCE THAT FAITH BRINGS, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. LET US HOLD UNSWERVINGLY TO THE HOPE WE PROFESS, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and ALL THE MORE AS YOU SEE THE DAY APPROACHING.

Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. SO DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE; IT WILL BE RICHLY REWARDED

YOU NEED TO PERSEVERE so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.” And, “But my righteous one WILL LIVE BY FAITH.

AND I TAKE NO PLEASURE IN THE ONE WHO SHRINKS BACK.”

BUT WE DO NOT BELONG TO THOSE WHO SHRINK BACK AND ARE DESTROYED, BUT TO THOSE WHO HAVE FAITH AND ARE SAVED. Heb. 10

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

FOR THIS VERY REASON, MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ADD TO YOUR FAITH goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, THEY WILL KEEP YOU FROM BEING INEFFECTIVE AND UNPRODUCTIVE IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. BUT WHOEVER DOES NOT HAVE THEM IS NEARSIGHTED AND BLIND, FORGETTING THAT THEY HAVE BEEN CLEANSED FROM THEIR PAST SINS.

Therefore, my brothers and sisters, MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO CONFIRM YOUR CALLING AND ELECTION. For if you do these things, YOU WILL NEVER STUMBLE, AND YOU WILL RECEIVE A RICH WELCOME INTO THE ETERNAL KINGDOM OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.

So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I THINK IT IS RIGHT TO REFRESH YOUR MEMORY AS LONG AS I LIVE IN THE TENT OF THIS BODY, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. (The Apostle Peter)

Then Job replied to the Lord: “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’ My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. And he also had seven sons and three daughters. The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.

After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And so Job died, an old man and full of years. Job 42

Neither Job nor Peter nor Paul fell into apostasy through unbelief while being “sifted by Satan”!

They ALL “kept the Faith”!

Now it is our turn to “keep the Faith” to the end!
